Caesars Palace is investing $75 million to renovate its 50-year-old tower. Caesars Palace, which will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, is remodeling the property’s first hotel tower at a cost nearly four times the initial cost to construct the Strip resort.

This month, the 587-room Roman Tower began a $75 million makeover that will involve renaming the edifice the Julius Tower. The hotel’s first guests stayed in the Roman Tower at its opening on August 5, 1966, by the late Jay Sarno. The cost of the skyscraper was $19 million. The renovated and updated rooms will welcome their first visitors on January 1.

By April, the work should be done. Gary Selesner, president of Caesars Palace, said in a statement, “As we approach our golden jubilee milestone year, we continue to redefine Rome and Las Vegas.” The rooms, created by KNA Style, will have updated interiors, furniture, and bathroom fixtures, as well as a fashionable design.

We continue to run our properties as usual, and this capital expense is included in the budgeted amount.” The majority of Caesars Entertainment’s $22.6 billion in long-term debt is attributable to the $30.7 billion leveraged purchase by two private equity groups.

While Caesars Palace is involved in the bankruptcy, the Octavius Tower is held by a different firm subsidiary and is not involved in the legal processes. More than 3,980 hotel rooms are spread among six buildings at Caesars Palace, including the 181-room Nobu Hotel, which is built into one of the constructions.

The transformation of the Roman Tower into the Julius Tower is a continuation of the property’s refurbishment plan.
